Borini to Crystal Palace?

Crystal Palace have reportedly contacted AC Milan over a potential loan move for striker Fabio Borini.

Recruiting a new striker had been one of the London club’s top priorities over the summer, but the failure to add to Roy Hodgson’s attacking options left the Eagles boss frustrated.

And the Evening Standard believe that Borini has now been identified as a target in January, with the Italian likely to be available on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The same publication also reports that the 28-year-old would qualify as a homegrown player, with the frontman having previously joined Chelsea at the age of 16.

However, Palace may face stiff competition for Borini’s signature from at least two Premier League rivals.

The former Liverpool and Sunderland star’s contract at the San Siro is set to expire in the summer and a return to the English top flight, where Borini has chalked up over 100 appearances, remains a possibility in the near future.

Hodgson’s men are currently flying high in seventh spot, but have netted just 14 goals this campaign.

Jordan Ayew had been signed on a permanent basis following a loan spell the previous season, but Palace ultimately failed to splash the cash on a new striker despite being linked to several big names.
