Match Time: Saturday 1:30 P.M Eastern US, 8:30 P.M (Italy time). GMT + 1
Match Location: Stadio Artemio Franchi, Florence, Italy.
Serie A time rossoneri! Milan will face Fiorentina in a match valid for the 36th fixture of the league. After the important win against Bologna, Milan needs to keep winning and wait for a false step from Atalanta in order to reach a CL spot. However, Fiorentina are without victories at home in this 2019, but they beat Milan in december so it’s not going to be an easy game.
Further, Fiorentina have gone 11 games without a win and have lost their last three, most notably the Tuscan derby against Empoli. The fans have planned yet another protest against the club ownership. While Milan need three points more than Fiorentina in terms of the league standings, the Fiorentina players will surely want to avoid angering their home fans further. So it’s not gonna be easy for Milan.
Moreover, Rino Gattuso spoke in the prematch conference:
- About the match: “We will have a really difficult game, Fiorentina is a team that can create a lot of problems. We have to be at our best. If we do things properly, then we can have our say.”
- About the team: “The team has trained well. We need to keep doing our best because we can still achieve something important. It doesn’t matter who scores as long as we win our games.”
- About the right approach: “I want to see the same spirit. The same desire to dig in and to take to the field without fear. We are focused on Fiorentina but things won’t be easier afterwards. There were a lot of times we could have given up but this is a team that thrives on difficulties. Now we’re going to do our best in these last three games.”
- About the player’s condition: “Biglia has been called up and will be with the team but he will not play. Paquetà is in good shape so it’s right that he trains with us. Hakan trained with the team and worked well so he will be available.”
Moreover, regarding the lineup, Gattuso will field the usual 4-3-3 lineup, Abate will start as right back, then at midfield Bakayoko is back after some problems with the coah, playing alongside Kessié and Hakan, Suso and Borini will be confirmed as wingers and in front Piatek.
On the other side, surely our ex coach Montella would like to spite our team, so we will have to watch out for their attacking couple Muriel and Chiesa, they are very fast and can put us in difficulty.
In conclusion, the team has the obligation to keep winning, we still have a little possibility to qualify to Champions League but we need a victory if we want to have still a chance. We must respect our opponent, play focused in order to win this match. Our guys can do it. Forza Ragazzi!
