Genoa – Milan: last minute win!

Return of the calico after last week’s matches were called off due to the tragic news related to the death of Fiorentina captain Davide Astori. And after a very emotional start where both teams paid their respects, the game in Genoa was signaled to start.

In the first half Milan controlled the ball beautifully, they looked ready for the game. Not a lot of chances created except for a cross that found Kalinic in the box, but an incredible effort from Perin helped Genoa keep the score level. Milan were very close to scoring the first goal at the 42nd minute but the goal was ruled offside. Minute 45, another beautiful attack from Milan but Calhanoglu barely missed the target and allowed the half to finish 0-0. Good positioning from the boys, remarkable grinta and determination to recover the ball quickly after losing it signaled the story of the first half.

During the start of the second half, the VAR saved us from conceding the first goal, and Genoa started to get more involved in the game. The second half featured more of the same, Cutrone and Andre Silva were subbed in to try and have an impact on the game. Enter Andre Silva!! A curling cross from Suso and a fantastic header from Andre Silva beat a stubborn Genoa team. I am sure every single fan is happy with Andre Silva’s first goal, and what better time to score than today.

Match winner, minute 94 stunner, Silva’s goal brought us closer towards 4th Lazio who failed to beat Cagliari and closer towards Derby rivals Inter who will host Napoli later on in the evening. What a beautiful night for the team, Gattuso’s grinta has paid off, Milan have bounced back, next up Arsenal. Forza Milan
