Ivan Gazidis – “The Financial Magician”


It’s official, today Ivan Gazidis during the board of directors meeting has been designated as our new CEO until June 30th 2020, a top class manager for AC Milan, so let’s summarize what has he done previously and why he’s the ideal person to lead our club.

Mr Gazidis, an Oxford-educated lawyer, joined in 1994 the founding management team of Major League Soccer, becoming in 2001 its deputy commissioner. Otherwise he was a member of the founding management team of MLS and the central developing the reputation of the league helped by the fact that he was the president of Soccer United Marketing which is the for-profit marketing arm of MLS League and the exclusive marketing partner of the United States Soccer Federation.

Furthermore in the year 2009 Gazidis was announced as the new Arsenal CEO, position in which he was called to give a solution to Arsenal’s lack of financial improvement where he successfully achieved to develope Arsenal Football Club within the football community and international commercial markets, obtaining not only good results economically (strongest one, partnership with Fly Emirates and boosting the club’s revenues), but also sportively where Arsenal during the years under Gazidis management won 3 FA Cup, 3 Community Shield and also managed to qualify the club to the Uefa Champions League 8 times since he joined the club.

In the other hand, it’s not unexpected that our owners, the Elliott group, have chosen Gazidis as our new CEO, they have been following him since his arrival at Arsenal where he obtained respectable results that consolidated the club as a worldwide football reference.

Mr Gazidis background has been outstanding, he has achieved great results and in a moment in which we need to take care about our finances due to the Financial Fair Play issues and also the need to relaunch our brand globally to raise the club’s revenues, with the financial support from Elliott and the knowledge of Gazidis, we are in safe hands.

Nothing less to wish to our new CEO a successful career at AC Milan, and just give him the time to start making some magic with our finances!
