Dean Lovren could find himself at the centre of another offer from AC Milan if Mattia Caldara continues to struggle for fitness.

Caldara has barely featured since signing from Juventus in 2018 due to suffering a number of long-term injuries, including an Achilles rupture and an ACL tear.

Tuttosport are reporting that if Caldara shows no signs of making a return to the squad, Milan are ready to make another effort to sign Lovren from Liverpool.

Both Roma and Milan attempted to get Lovren out of Merseyside in the summer but were unsuccessful in their attempts.

The 30-year-old has been in and out of Jurgen Klopp’s side with Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip seemingly the German’s preferred pairing.
Klopp wants squad depth as they challenge in multiple competitions but the allure of regular first team games could prove too enticing for the Croatian international in January in the run up to Euro 2020.

Lovren will look to play a role against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Reds, as they sit top of the Premier League and impressing in the Champions League, are set to heavily rotate the side for the visit of Arsenal.
