In the first match of coach Pioli’s Rossoneri , we saw a dynamic , fast and creative Milan on the first half. With Çalhanoglu and Paquetá well centered in the midfield and Kessie playing more closely to Biglia, Conti and Theo had a lot of space and liberty to go foward, with he spaniard being probably the best Rossoneri player in the first half. Paqueta and Çalhanoglu also seemed to find themselves way more comfortable playing in the middle having performed nicely in the first part of the game.
The first goal came with a good pass to Çalhanoglu inside the box who quickly made the finish to score a beautiful goal on Milan’s former keeper Gabriel.
Lecce showed Milan little danger with Donnarumma going to the locker room smelling the same as when he entered the field.
At the second we saw a more careful Milan in the first minutes, which allowed Lecce to grow into the match. In the 60th minute, Conti deflected a cross with his right arm inside the box and the VAR immediately assigned the penalty for the visitors at San Siro. Although Donnaruma managed to defende Babacar’s shot, the senegalese scored at the rebound making it 1-1. Coach Pioli’s response was to immediately sub Paqueta and Leao for Krunic and Piatek
From this point Milan started to get a little disorganized, trying from every way to score until Çalhanoglu managed to cross the ball inside the box to find Piatek free to score the rossoneri’s second goal of the match. Even with the lead, Milan didn’t managed to control the match and were punished by a beautiful strike from outside the box from Calderoni at the 81th minute.
Milan did not manage to land the 3 points again. However, there are lots os positive aspects that we can take from this match. Hakan made an amazing performance being undoubtedly the man of the match. Also Paqueta and Theo performed really nicely, both having more freedom to attack under this new formation with Kessie playing closely to Biglia.
