Milan Still After Conte?

On Monday, Vincenzo Montella was sacked from the manager position at AC Milan. The same day, Milan youth coach Gennaro Gattuso was appointed as the new manager for the Rossoneri. Even after this change in management Milan are still after current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who is keen on making a return to Italy at the end of the season.

Milan has officially hired Gattuso, but this will not make them lose their interest in Conte. Many see Gattuso’s appointment as a short-term project until they can find a top manager that they can bring to the club.

Gattuso is a Milan legend, he is mostly known for his aggression and constant fighting. Gattuso is a World Cup winner, 2 time UEFA Champions League winner, 2 times Italian Champion (Serie A), 1 time Italian Cup winner, 2 time Italian Super Cup winner, 1 time FIFA Club World Cup winner, 1-time Intercontinental cup winner, and even more in his youth career. He has been managing the Milan youth team, and now the first team. His first test will be on Sunday, against last-place team Benevento.

Antonio Conte is a very well known manager for his time at Juventus and Chelsea. At Juventus, he has won 2 consecutive Italian Super Cups and 3 consecutive League titles. With Chelsea, he has won last seasons Premier League. Even after managing a rival club, it looks like a move can still go through. He has previously dismissed rumors and has stated that he is fully concentrated on his Chelsea campaign, but it still seems possible that he will return to his home country soon.
